Our Story

After 30 years working in the financial industry, going from stock broker to partner and eventually owning a brokerage firm, we wanted our life to take on more meaning than simply be about earning more money.

So when two of our kids moved away for university and school abroad, we too began to crave a new adventure and decided to hit the road in a motorhome with our three younger children.

Returning to the real world a year later was disappointing, we missed life on the road, so we made a plan for Middle Retirement.

We would homeschool and travel the world, visiting a new continent every 18 months.  To ensure the kids remained socialized, we would enroll them in sports and we made a family pact to keep going until it stopped working.

Fifteen years, five continents and 65 countries later we returned to work as our kids went off to University.

During those Middle Retirement years, we relied heavily on our knowledge of the stock market to stretch our investment dollars. We learned to appreciate the comfort of our low-interest, but guaranteed investments and learned which of the rollercoasters we could comfortably stay on.  We used good and some bad advice during those years, but always ensured the advice did not derail our  Middle Retirement.

Today, we love sharing all of those lessons and our incredible life journey.

Most of our kids are now finished University and some have returned to join our family office, so they too can share both the academic and life lessons they’ve learned to help others turn means into meaning.
